In January of 2018, Jason was diagnosed with prostate cancer. After testing, it was found to be non metastatic but well advanced in the prostate. The treatment journey included hormone and radiation therapy. It took some time and left Jason facing many side effects.
Jason was a small independent handyman who worked for himself and as such I had no paid leave, no paid sick time, and no disability (up until 2020). In 2020, his wife Kelly became his paid caregiver through a Medicaid program called In Home Support Services Program for the disabled.
When Jason passed away, Kelly and the children lost all of Jason's disability benefits and Kelly lost her job as Jason's in home care provider.
Jason was not wanting for his wife and children to face both grief of his death as well as trying to replace his share of the families income on top of losing Kelly's income. Jason set up this fundraiser for any one who is willing, to please donate. You can donate directly to Kelly's Venmo at
to avoid paying fees.
Jason and the family are extremely grateful for all donations made through this many year health crises and looking forward, supporting the family through their grief and loss.
Update: March of 2019 Jason's liver decompensated after prostate cancer treatment.
Update: October of 2024 Jason died of non-alcoholic liver disease. Any further contributions will help support his family during their time of loss.
