Help my family restore and replenish after a fire
Donation protected
Hi everyone. Around 3 in the morning on the first of July an electrical fire broke out at the Mariners Cove apartments in Toms River, NJ. I know multiple people/families are facing hardships because of this. My heart goes out to all of them and I truly hope that any news reporting outlets also shine a light on them as well. From what I have gathered through posts online, several units have faced severe damage . One unit being my family. My two cousins (18 & 17) as well as my uncle. My uncle and cousin Christopher (18) were admitted to Community Medical but luckily discharged not too long after being admitted. Whereas my cousin Matthew (17), inhaled a significant amount of soot and smoke. Matthew was transferred to a pediatric hospital in New Brunswick and remains there on a ventilator in the ICU. Our family is absolutely crushed over this however he seems to be responding well to the care he is receiving. We know he will pull through. What was once their home has been turned to nothing but ash and dirt. Many things were lost to this fire. Clothes, food, phones, toiletries, personal identification documents, medications, furniture, and mementos of the boys’ mother who tragically passed in 2018. We are all just happy that everyone is alive. While items are replaceable and we are totally aware of that, this is still a major setback for our poor family. My uncle has been permanently disabled for some time now which makes this journey of replenishing things extremely difficult. We are basically at square one here. At this very moment, the apartment complex does not have anything open as far as I understand. Currently my grandmother, mother and I have Christopher with us. Christopher’s father is with his oldest son, Anthony, who lives alone in Pennsylvania. Until we can find a place for them to go Matthew will likely be joining us once he is recovered and discharged. We have been in contact with some amazing people today and we are so incredibly grateful. Thank you to all responders, doctors, nurses, firemen, and American Red Cross for your support and help today. If anybody has any advice or would like to help please do so. If you cannot donate that is more than okay as I know times are tough these days. Absolutely anything helps whether it be thoughts & prayers, advice, clothing, food, ($), or even just viewing this. Once again I want to extend my empathy and prayers to all of the other families and residents who were impacted as well and I encourage them to reach out if they need anything. I am just utterly thrilled to know that my family is alive as well as everyone else involved. Thank you all. If anybody would like to get into contact with me personally I am fairly active on my Facebook.
