Hello, my friends, my name is Dr, Ahmed Moghrabi. I am a Palestinian Doctor/ Consultant specializing in Plastic and Reconstructive surgery and I am the Head of the Burn Department at Nasser Medical Hospital in Gaza. I am creating this page because I really need your support to evacuate my family from Gaza to Egypt.
I have decided to set up this page after great contemplation and hesitation. When I realised that there are no longer any options left for me to support my family here or to keep them safe. The situation in Gaza is very dear. I am currently the only consultant working in Nasser Hospital and helping my patients. I have been working for 3 years now in Nasser Hospital as the head of the Plastic and Burn department while my family was living in the Gaza. I used to own a private clinic in my family home, which included all my medical equipment including my laser machines. However, unfortunately I have lost everything including my family home to this war, it got bombed and I remained empty handed. I used to travel to work from Gaza to Khan Yunis, however at the destruction of my family home after 3 weeks, my family had moved in with me to stay at Nasser Hospital. At the escalation of the bombing and displacement, there is now a scarcity of everything. Of food, no clean water, lack of public bathrooms. As well as the spread of gastrointestinal diseases along with respiratory manifestations at the hospital.
My experience of this war has been very traumatizing. All forms of humanity and living have been stripped away from us. Instead of seeing fireworks lighting our sky, we see phosphorus bombs, Eitan drones. We sleep with constant fear and bombing around us.
There has not been a single night of peace since the start of this. Instead of seeing smiling happy children, I see children with tears and in pain. Everybody is in pain in Gaza. Children are crying here instead of laughing. Happiness has been wiped away from the city of Gaza. Families have been ripped apart. Everybody around me is dying, and even my help is not enough. We are targeted everywhere. Despite me living with my family at Nasser Hospital. I am constantly in fear that tonight will be the last night I see them. The safety of my family and children is not guaranteed. All supplies are dwindling. Gaza is dying and everybody who is here is just a walking dead man. Nobody sees my pain. I have to put up a smile to the world and to the children I treat. I seen all the atrocities this war has brought onto our people. Palestinian mothers crying for their martyred children, widowed wives, orphaned children, and patients that lost all their family, their lives, and their homes. I lost so many of my family members to this war. So many of my friends, colleagues and so so many of my patients have been lost to this violence. Even staying here, there are not enough staff members to support me, medical supplies I can use, food, water, or sanitation left in Nasser hospital, or the rest of Gaza. I am a Doctor that has been struggling to even find my own mother her medication. All medical supplies are running out in Nasser Hospital.
Currently we are 107 days going, but I do not know for how long we would last. Nasser Hospital is the only standing hospital in Gaza now. All other hospitals have been brought down. I am afraid Nasser Hospital would get the same fate as other hospitals. The airstrikes and bombings are coming closer and closer to my hospital. All the north has been destroyed by the bombings and airstrikes. In Gaza we got used to this life of pain. The only new thing now is the different artillery being used against us. Every night I do not know whether it would be my last to greet my children goodbye. I have been treating my patients since the start of this war. And I have decided to remain here, in Nasser Hospital and treat my patients until the time I meet my Lord.
I might not survive this, but I want to give my children a chance, my wife. My six children Seeba is the youngest 3 years old , 3 brothers, and my mother. I have lost everything to this war. I have no funds. I just want to evacuate my family to ensure they are in a safe country if God forbid, I am no longer here for them. The permit fee per person now to cross Rafah now has risen to $9,000. Fee per Adult is $9,000 and the fee per Child is $2,500. There are 6 adults and 6 children in my family, there is also $5,000 immediate relief fund. Finally, approximately $1,624 to cover the GOFUNDME transaction fees (2.9% + $0.30 per transaction).
These are the fees they imposed on my family to live. As I am writing this, I can hear bombing happening everywhere here around the hospital. I am reaching out for your support and generosity. I need your help to have my family evacuated to Egypt. My hope actually is to provide better living for my children. I want them to live in peace. We want to live like you, like other people in the world, in peace! That’s it. Your donations are helping to free a life! Your donation, no matter how small, will make an impact. And it will contribute to get my family to safety. This is my final wish to the world as a Palestinian Doctor. Thank you so much for reading my message and your support. If you aren’t able to donate, please share. I really appreciate your donations, help and your support.
