Help My Family Stay In My House

Hello.

My name is Christopher Crawford, and I hate that I need to ask for your help.

Some of you know me as a writer/podcaster who has worked for a few different places including ESPN, NBC Sports, Vice, Sports Illustrated and a few others.

Unfortunately, the year 2023 was incredibly difficult, and 2024 has gotten off (somehow) to an even rougher start.

It started in January when I lost my job at NBC due to cutbacks, but that was just the start. I would go on to have to cut hours at my part-time job to help take care of family and some of my own health issues, and then lost my Mom unexpectedly in September. I also saw a a new job that I started not pay me for reasons that can be explained here, which obviously didn't help the financial burden of not having a job and a lost loved one.

And then, last week, my stepdad who I have been living with for the past 15 years passed away after his battle with cancer came to a conclusion.

This death on top of everything else has left us all devastated emotionally, and unfortunately, it's caused a great deal of financial strain as well. The mortgage on the house is way more than I can afford at this point, but I'm also trying to stay close to my family including my 93-year-old grandmother.

This money would go towards paying the housing bills and also help cover funeral costs and their debt, and also helping my sister her husband and my nieces who are moving in to help.

Those of you who know me well know that I consider myself to be a very charitable person, and I've raised thousands of dollars through auctions on Twitter to help others.

I'm asking -- regrettably -- for the table to turn. I appreciate anything you can do to help.
