HELP MY FAMILY SURVIVE AND REBUILD THEIR FUTURE IN GAZA

My dear friends and colleagues,

As most of you know, I was born and I spent my young years in Gaza. All my family – my mother, my eight brothers and sisters, my 29 nephews and nieces – are still living there, facing war and famine for several months.

Since the conflict has started, they have lost everything: their homes, their jobs, their sources of revenues, their future, their hope.

 

Along with their children aged between a few months to 14 years old, my family had to evacuate more than six times and they are now living in tents made of plastic sheets. Every day, they are struggling to get the basic necessities: water, food, diapers for the babies, medicines, etc.

 

When I get a chance to receive pictures of them, I barely recognize them. They lost so much weight due to the very limited access to food. It breaks my heart as it breaks my heart to see my mother, a 65-year-old woman who is suffering from constant back pain, sitting on sand in her tent, including when the weather is so hot.

One of my sisters and her two children living in the north of Gaza have been separated from the rest of my family and have been facing famine. A few weeks ago, my sister’s older son, Adam, 13 years old, told me on the phone: “Uncle, I am starving. I lost eight kilos.” My sister was crying: “I can see their ribs".

 

Being far from my family during these last ten months has been one of the most difficult experiences of my life. Felling totally helpless, I decided to launch GoFundMe to support them.
