Help my family to evacuate from Gaza to the safety of Egypt

Hello everyone, my name is Yosef Kassab. I’m a Palestinian refugee from Gaza, now living in Belgium. I came here four years ago – so, before the current war started. I have experienced many wars in Gaza myself – and even lost my left eye due to shrapnel from an explosion.

My family is still living in the Gaza Strip, and like so many other families, their lives are hell right now. My family includes my father and mother, my sisters Nisreen and Yasmine and my brother Anwar. My dad is 77 years old and my mother, who I call the soul of my soul and the balm of my life, is 75 years old and confined to a wheelchair because of a war injury when she was young.

My brother Anwar and my sister Yasmine suffer from diabetes mellitus type 1. That means the pancreas secretes a very small amount of insulin, and therefore they need insulin urgently and regularly. Any lack of insulin puts their lives in danger, as what happened with my older sister Ibtisam, who lost her life 10 years ago due to a lack of insulin.

All my siblings are married. Nisreen and Anwar have five kids each and Yasmine has 4 kids. Each of them, along with my parents, have been displaced several times. Some of them are living with other relatives and some had to use refugee centres such as converted schools. I don’t need to explain the squalor conditions everyone in Gaza is experiencing. There’s enough stories and video in the media and social media. Nisreen’s oldest son Hisham (22 years old) was with her when they were taking refuge at the Al Shifa Hospital but after an attack there, they were separated and no one has seen him since. We don’t know if he’s dead or alive.

I would like to see all of my family members cross into the Egypt to safety. It is their only way out but there is a cost of USD 8,000 for each permit per person.

Therefore my goal with this Go Fund Me page is to raise enough money for specifically my two siblings who are in urgent need of medical care (Yasmine and Anwar) and their families to exit Gaza and enter Egypt. The total amount for their permits costs USD 140,000, which is the objective of this Go Fund Me Page.

Once they cross to safety in Egypt they will have access to medical treatment, including insulin and treatment for my brother and sister which has become very scarce in Gaza due to the war, the siege and the destruction of most healthcare centres and hospitals, as well as almost complete cessation of UNRWA health centres.
