Help my Father Billy Recover
Donation protected
Hello, My name is Jeremiah. On May 25th my father Billy was found unconcious in his bedroom after having had Nearly a week of no connection with any of his family members and friends. He lives alone and was diagnosed with Diabetes a few years back. When the EMS had arrived on scene to take him into the ambulance and get him to the closest hospital he was found with :
- A blood sugar level of 600, confirming that yes he had been in a diabetic coma for quite some time
- A small wavering pulse
- A fleeting breath
- A skin lifting bleeding wound on his leg that ended up being infected with Necrotising Fasciitis
(Necrotising Fasciitis is a rare bacterial infection known most common as a "Flesh eating Bacteria")
They brought him to the hospital where He went into cardiac arrest twice but was able to be revived both times, but with the infection spreading so fast after having been inside of his leg for who know's how long, needed Amputation.
I decided as his next of kin that I'd rather have my father here without his leg, than to not have my father here at all. The support from the family has been amazing through this tough time as even now, (6/6) he has not woken up fully from his diabetic coma.
He has been put through a multitude of Surgeries and procedures now including
- CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) To clean his blood and reintroduce it back into his body.
- Multiple Amputations starting at the lower leg and now has worked up to his upper thigh.
- Ventilation to support his at times - Non existant breathing
- 17 Different Medications hooked up VIA IV to Regulate Blood pressure, Blood sugar, Bacterial Infection via Antibiotics, A variety of Medications to subdue his pain, MRI scans to make sure his brain had not been damaged too harshly from the cardiac arrests, etc.
- The eventual Prosthesis that will need to be fitted for him to live his life to the fullest yet again
I ask for any support anyone can give, No dollar amount is too small, and spreading this like wildfire and getting as many Eyes as possible on it so that I can ease the burden of his medical bills, and bring him that much closer to a semblence of his old life would mean more than you could ever possibly know.
