Help my father David overcome health and home challenges!

Hi everybody!

My name is Storm Lacy, and I’m organizing this gofundme in order to help my dad obtain the resources he works hard to maintain and that he truly deserves. He has earned everything that he has ever had via his incredible work ethic and unwavering perseverance. I’ve never met a person as strong and truly good as him, and I can’t stand feeling like there’s nothing I can do to help him—which is why I’m sharing this with you.

He’s the most stubborn man I know, and he would probably hate to ask for funding or assistance from strangers. But, as much as he’s given to his community simply by doing his job, pushing forward, and being kind to people every day, I feel like it’s more than fair to ask for support.

My dad has been general manager at papa johns for 15 years (employed 25 years total at the same store), and his employees love working for him. In fact, he had the lowest turnover rate of all restaurant general managers in valley. One employee has remained working there part-time (alongside other jobs) for 20 years, in large part due to his respect and loyalty to my father. People stay with my dad because he does everything he can to be good to them. If any of you have met him, you know this. He’s always willing to give people second chances, and despite his firmness and tough demeanor, he’s always been the one who sacrificed the most for others.

However, even with such an impressive career record, his income lately has not been enough to fund all the necessary projects and endeavors in his life. For one thing, he fully supports himself and my mother while trying mostly independently to repair several damages to his home. Not only that, but he began to face further obstacles after being hospitalized and diagnosed with COPD two years ago. He’s been having more health issues ever since.

Now, there’s a high chance he will have to have surgery before the end of the year to remove his gallbladder, and he was diagnosed with liver disease last Friday. As a result, he is having to drastically change his diet and incorporate very specific foods to help reduce his symptoms.

In other words, he has been overall declining in his physical wellness, despite maintaining a positive attitude and working 50+ hours a week. He has also already begun putting effort toward his health, having lost nearly 40lbs in the last couple months. Nonetheless, a recent update has guaranteed that he will still have to invest further money in more healthy grocery options to accommodate his health demands. These options are often less accessible and affordable to the average working class citizen (especially one under as much stress as my father), creating another unfair disadvantage for him to overcome.

As if that wasn’t enough, he has also reached an impasse with the contractors he hired to help him repair his home (his kitchen and plumbing). He invested and lost money after allowing them to work on the house while he was at work. In short, several of the pipes were not glued properly, and the base of the house was patched with wood and no concrete. My dad will need to spend even more funds to undo and redo these tasks.

As a 21 year old recent college grad, I unfortunately don’t have enough funds to fully help my dad attend to all of these issues while allowing him to remain as devoted to his career as he needs to be.

I’m asking everyone who cares for and respects our hardworking community members—the backbones of little towns like this—to either 1.) chip in anything you may have to spare, or 2.) to share this gofundme to your friends and family.
