Help My Friend Rita Pay for Cancer Treatment

Hi, my name is Alyssa and I’m fundraising for my incredible friend Rita who is fighting breast cancer. Rita is 45 years old, a hard worker, and passionate about what she does for a living. She is married to Alan and stepmom of 4 kids, 3 of them living with them and dog momma to Herkey.

On June 14, she was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer, stage 2A, invasive carcinoma. This is a type of cancer that has fewer options for treatment and due to its aggressive type of breast tumor she had to immediately start her treatment, which includes 6 months of chemo (she started on July 18th), surgery, and then 1 month of radiation. So, about 8 months of treatment.

As I mentioned, Rita loves working. She is a creative soul, marketer and writer and works as a freelancer, which means she depends completely on her efforts to prospect new clients and jobs. However, with her new routine of chemo, recovery, and other therapies she is using to support her body during chemo, she has been facing difficulty to reconcile her work routine with her health and wellness care, which in one month, impacted in a loss of 90% of her monthly income.

I am sure you can imagine that a loss of income, increasing medical expenses, and other related expenses, can be a lot for her to deal with in a moment she needs to have some extra time to heal without stressing more during these 8 months.

For this reason, I decided to start this GoFundMe campaign to help her pay for the costs related to her treatment period and loss of income due to this cancer.

Anyone that knows Rita will say she is a beacon of light and inspiration in this world. I consider her a dear friend who has always been by my side when I needed her...and now it's time to care for her in return.

Since the beginning of her journey, she decided to share her experience on her social media. With that, she has been helping other women check their breast health and prevent more cases like hers. Also, as most people know about her, she has a healthy lifestyle and by sharing her journey, she is also helping to motivate other women to take care of their health and wellness.

This recent diagnosis has been a huge shock to her, her family, and her friends. To those of you who can give, no matter how small, any amount is appreciated.
