My name is Katie and last night, Saturday, April 25th, a fire broke out at a home in Gouldsboro, PA, which just so happened to be the home of my best friend, his dog Marley, his mother, his father who tragically passed due to the fire, and his quadriplegic brother who I helped take care of for 7 years as a home health aide.
His brother has a very significant amount of medical needs and supplies that were lost in the fire. While having to endure such a tragic loss of not only his home but his Dad, he is left with nothing and nowhere to go. They are all starting from scratch. My friend has nothing but his book bag and the clothes on his back. All of the medical supplies, including machines, have been destroyed along with everything in the home.
The Red Cross gave him money which will get him maybe a couple of days in a hotel, possibly less due to charging more for pets. His dog is everything to him and he's a big comfort to him, especially right now, so finding somewhere for the dog to go is just not an option right now. His mom and his brother are in the hospital and will need a wheelchair-accessible place to go when they are discharged.
Money is a problem right now. They just don't have access to it and can use all the help they can get. Even if it's a dollar, please donate if you can.
