Gayle Davis Recovery Fund

Dear Friends, Family and Anonymous Donors,
It’s been one year since my mother, Gayle Davis, broke her hip and sustained a subarachnoid hemorrhage (brain bleed) after falling while playing racquetball at the YMCA. That accident triggered a series of life-threatening complications that continue to this day.
Gayle has spent five of the last twelve months in the hospital. During that time, she underwent emergency hip replacement surgery followed by life-saving colostomy surgery. She spent a week in the ICU, had a blood transfusion, and endured six-weeks of around the clock dual intravenous antibiotic treatment. She was on TPN (total parenteral nutrition) for seven weeks and has been receiving all her nutritional needs through a jejunal feeding tube since March 5th. She’s been to the ER 16 times since June. She has received 11 electric cardioversions (heart shocks) 21 x-rays, 11 CT scans, 3 MRI’s, two colonoscopies, 2 endoscopies and multiple sacral/abdominal drain tube placements.
Gayle’s ongoing medical issues are a direct result of radiation treatment/damage from stage three colorectal cancer. The radiation caused a rare condition known as soft tissue radio necrosis. The radiated tissue becomes infected and dies. This causes chronic cycles of inflammation and infection in Gayle's sacral area.
Gayle was recently hospitalized with sepsis. The infection migrated into her sacral tissue and bloodstream. She was put back on a heavy dose of antibiotics and will likely need to be on them the rest of her life.
This has been a very costly ordeal. Money raised from this fundraiser will go directly to Gayle’s medical care and related costs including immediate and future medical bills, upcoming surgery, prescriptions, tube feed supplies etc.
I have been my mother’s fulltime caregiver, without a break, for thirteen months. I am hoping to raise enough so I can hire someone part time so I can take a break.
Gayle is a beautiful woman and an incredible human. She spent her life giving to others. She was a teacher and workplace literacy instructor. She helped countless immigrants become US citizens. She became a certified yoga teacher after beating stage three colorectal cancer at age 72. She taught chair and gentle yoga to seniors and people with disabilities until the day she broke her hip. Now she is the one that needs some help. And so do I.
Thank you for considering donating to my mother's medical fundraiser campaign. Your donations will help me and will help my mom with her recovery. Please share this with others and help give this campaign the attention it deserves.
Thank you!
