HEAVEN HAS GAINED AN ANGEL: REST IN PEACE MAMI

Donation protected
Through every difficult moment in our lives, my loving, kind, funny and beautiful mom & grandma to my children has always reassured us, ”Do what you need to do and put your trust and faith in God”. This fundraiser is what we humbly need to do right now because on December 1, 2023, to our shock and sadness, my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma cancer that has spread to all her main organs. Meanwhile with so many visits to different emergency rooms and no help for the agony my mom was in, she was sent right back home to follow up with an oncologist. After suffering at home with medications that failed to subside her symptoms, on December 8th, we went to her first oncologist appointment. At this appointment, we were told it would take two weeks for the insurance to authorize the imaging and scans needed for a treatment plan despite her quickly progressing cancer. So discouraged and scared, I took her back home. Her nausea and vomiting worsened and her pain level was at its highest. I didn’t know what to do. Searching for help with my mom’s pain, I decided to take her to one more emergency room. With the help of my mom’s younger sister, we waited for 6 hours while my mom was still in pain and vomiting. I felt so helpless when finally I heard the nurse call her name. So nervous from our past experiences at the emergency rooms, all I could do is pray and hope for the best. When the doctor came in he was like an Angel sent from heaven. Someone who understood and cared for my mom’s agony. After explaining to him my mom’s symptoms and diagnosis, he offered to help us. He admitted her to the hospital and started her on IV medications and fluids. He immediately ran the MRI’s and scans needed for the oncologist to find a treatment but this time, with his help, we didn’t have to wait for the insurance authorization. After 7 days, my mom was discharged with nausea and vomiting but we had the scans needed to take to her oncologists appointment scheduled for the following day. At the time of the appointment, I could see my mom’s worry in her eyes. The doctor shortly walked in the room looked at us and told us there was a new diagnosis. The MRI had shown an aggressive nodular malignant melanoma. The cancer had spread rapidly to all her organs and nodules. Her liver was invaded 80% with tumors. The chances were a very slim 1 out of 7, with the probability she wouldn’t resist the first one. That’s when my mom preferred to trust in the Lord and chose hospice to be with her loved ones. My mom is now declining. Her body is getting weaker with the constant vomiting and loss of appetite. Her oxygen levels are dropping. She’s trying to fight it but the cancer is taking over.

As you can imagine this an extremely difficult time for everyone that loves and knows my mom, but my mom’s limited time should be spent with her family and friends and not worrying about all the medical expenses or any future expense that may be arising sooner than we hope for.

This is where I am hoping that anyone who reads this, and is able to, will make a donation. Any donation will be much appreciated. Thank you for taking time to read this post and please feel free to share.

God bless you all
