HELP My Disabled Mother Avoid Eviction
Donation protected
Hello all, I am starting this campaign to help my mother, Nancy, and her dog Gwen remain housed and in stable conditions while facing medical issues and unemployment.
As a long standing pillar of the community, Nancy has worked with special needs children for many years in both the private and public education sector (2006-2023), assisted as a social worker with Santa Fe College, and worked in law enforcement (1980-1995).
Some honorable moments in her career include the following:
- 1st Female Deputy Sheriff (Clay County FL)
- Achieved rank of 1st Sergent Female Patrol and Investigations
- Former Correctional Officer with Jacksonville Sheriff's Office
- Director at St. John's Criminal Justice Academy
Over the last year, my mother has developed painful and debilitating medical complications in her spine and major joints, resulting in her needing to alternate between a walker and crutches to maintain any mobility. She is currently unable to use her spine stimulator due to a manufacturing recall and cannot have a total left ankle replacement until her total right knee replacement is completed and healed (procedural date 1/8/24).
Despite a long running effort to acquire government assistance, she is unable to qualify for disability before returning to work, and her current Social Security payments and retirement does not cover her basic living expenses. These expenses include things such as rent, medical debt, insurance, food, electric, water, etc..
This fundraiser is meant to help support her costs of living and care for her dog, Gwen, during this difficult time of recovery. They are currently facing eviction by the end of January. All help is greatly appreciated. Thank you. :)
