From War-Torn Gaza: A Physics Student’s Journey Toward Hope

Hello,
The world can sometimes feel overwhelming and chaotic, and often we don't know where to begin. But today, I want to send a message to the world: Here is Gaza – a place where the streets tell stories of loss and pain, but also of relentless strength and deep hope.
My name is Wassim Abuharbid. I am a young physics student in my twenties with big dreams and a deep passion for science. Before the war, I was one of the top students in my field at the university in Gaza. My dream was to earn a PhD in physics and enrich the world with my knowledge.
But the war changed everything. My university, my home, my entire life – all were destroyed. My family and I had to flee, and now we live in a tent on the beach of Deir al-Balah. We have lost so much – friends, professors, neighbors – but the loss of my dream hurts the most.
Despite everything, I refuse to give up. Some time ago, I learned about this platform, and a small spark of hope ignited within me. Maybe there is still a way to fulfill my dream and at the same time help my family through these difficult times.
Life in Gaza is indescribably hard. Prices are skyrocketing, and even the most basic necessities are nearly impossible to obtain.
How do we plan to use the money? Part of the amount will be used to support my family during this challenging time. The rest will be enough to allow me to travel to Germany and take my German language courses. After that, I will be able to work and finance my studies myself.
This is why I am reaching out to you – to all those willing to support us. This is not just about survival, but about dignity and the hope for a better future.
Even if you cannot support us financially, it means the world to us if you share our story and amplify our voice.
Tell the world what is happening here in Gaza. Your solidarity gives us strength, more than words can express.
Let us ignite the spark of hope together and change the lives of my family and many others. Even a small contribution can make a huge difference.
