Help! My Rent Is About to Make a Huge Jump!

I seem to be doing this stuff way too often nowadays. Well, this is a very BIG one. My landlords let me know a few weeks ago that my monthly rent for my apartment is going from $1060 a month to $1505 a month after January 25 of 2025. I have started looking for apartments, but there's currently nothing available that far out. These costs are meant to cover things like application fees, security deposits, first/last months rent, a moving truck, and so on. If worse comes to worse, it'll get used to pack me up and get me out of Florida to... who knows? I'm hoping it doesn't come to that.

The fact is that Southwest Florida is not an affordable place to live any more and the state and local policymakers don't seem to be all that keen on helping out the working class folks that the wealthier residents rely on when they send their kids to school or doctor, or go shopping, or go out to eat. The solution is, "Well, they can commute in." I like living close to my job and that has worked well until very recently. Commuting in just means spending more money on gas and higher blood pressure during Season.

I am looking for a higher paying job to offset the rent jump, but I'm also being realistic here. If you can help out even a little, that would be wonderful.
