Help my sick mom with her medical bills.

Hi There,

My name's Dave, and I'm starting this fundraiser for my incredible, caring, beloved mother. Sadly, for the past eight weeks in the Intensive Care Unit, my mother has been staying in hospital, receiving treatment for a severe case of Covid-19. As we have all learnt over the past three years, Covid-19 is highly contagious and particularly harmful for older people, with mortality rates for this demographic remaining high. My mother is 86 years old now, and the virus has been extremely detrimental to her health. Since catching Covid-19, my mother has been in ICU with kidney, liver and heart complications, alongside suffering from continuous problems with her secreted lungs and along with three times a week kidney dialysis. At age 86, you can imagine that her overall health has taken an extensive beating.

 

During daily visit, I observed my mom receiving countless rounds of antibiotics, needing a feeding tube and continuous oxygen. Two times she needed to be intubation procedure to save her life. She appeared to be in so much pain there were times I couldn't even bear to see her in this state. It was heartbreaking to see my mother suffering in this manner. All I want is for my mom to leave the hospital and continue her recovery at a special care unit. But we realize this is a very costly process. Despite her advanced age, my mom is very active around the home and within her community. She loves meeting up with her friends for a good old-fashioned chinwag while sipping endless rounds of coffee. I hope to get her back to how she was before she caught Covid.

 

I have been advised that my mother will need to stay in hospital for a further month. Still, once she eventually leaves, she will need support with her living arrangements alongside extensive rehab. By embarking on this GoFundMe campaign, I hope to raise between $20,000 and $40,000 to aid her recovery and pay her outstanding medical bills and care costs.

 

I continue to play an active role in caring for and supporting my mother. But I recognize that financially, I need to raise as much funds as possible to ensure my mother makes a full recovery. My mom has always lived an active life despite her age, and I would love for her to return to her normal life.
