Help My Sister Graduate Medical School

Donation protected
My Story with Atika in less than 140 words:

“Atika is a medical student at the University of Alexandria, and as her older brother, I want to help my sister to the last bone of my body. She is a brilliant woman and a caring sister who needs your help to graduate from her last year of med school. I am vulnerable today because even with my help to pay her tuition and my family’s living expenses in Egypt, I couldn’t manage to pay her last year’s tuition. Atika considered working in Egypt to push further. Still, because she is an Iraqi refugee, it’s illegal for her and my family to work and to do so will put them in so much trouble. I only want her to focus on her study to have a better future and to follow her passion for being a Gynecologist.”

In 2017, I was fortunate to get a sponsorship from Pearson College UWC in Canada to study in a Canadian high school and live here. Still, by doing so, I left home and my family, and I haven’t seen them for years now as I am still not a Canadian citizen. I studied day and night, and I managed to get a full scholarship from The University of British Columbia (UBC), and this gave me the chance to have a part-time job to support my family back in Egypt.

My younger sister Atika is as brilliant as it gets; she managed to get an outstanding grade in high school and be accepted into the medical school at the University of Alexandria in Egypt, even with our difficult circumstances. And as many of us know, it is very competitive to get into a medical school anywhere, especially in developing countries, as this job is considered the most stable path to choose. I truly believe that she will have a better future than I do because she is a relentless fighter who thrives and shines anywhere she goes.

When Atika started attending university, I started working more hours. I bought a car as a side hustle to deliver food in Doordash and Skip the Dishes to have more money to pay for her tuition and my family’s living expenses in Egypt. However, I reached a point where I couldn’t financially support her last year of university; it saddens my heart that a beautiful and hopeful person like my sister will stop studying because of financial difficulties. I did not know what to do for the longest period, and I lived a tragic event last year that made me mentally and physically exhausted.

Thank you very much for taking the time to read Atika’s story and consider donating to our cause. My Friend Hatem will update this page regularly and answer any concerns or requests.

I will thank everyone who donates for this noble cause personally because every dollar counts, and every intention to help counts and I sincerely thank everyone who would share our story.

“I want to surprise my sister, I want the best for her, and I want her to thrive in her life.”
