Help my sister recover for a brighter future
As many of you already know, my sister got diagnosed with the lethal disease MLD adult (Metachromatic leukodystrophy) in 2020, the most rare form only 1 in 1 millon is affected.
The adult MLD causes a gradual loss of brain function such as logic, reasoning, impulsivity and focus. MLD can in worst case lead to physical disabilities, the ability to walk, eat, see, hear and eventually death.
There is no cure for MLD (yet) it can only be slowed down with a bone marrow transplant. Linnea got her transplant in June 2021 after 10 days of cytotoxic drugs, many nights being isolated in hospital with my mom who stayed with Linnea every second to make sure Linnea would feel safe. Hopefully the aggressive progress in disabilities has slowed down or even stopped. However this is affecting Linneas ability to study, keep a job and to have a normal life like most of us take for granted.
Linnea has been home from hospital for a couple of weeks now, she’s staying at my moms house so that my mom can be her “caregiver” to make sure Linnea gets her medication at the right time, giving her everything she can possibly need and driving her back and forth for about 2 hours to the hospital twice a week for check ups. Twice a week the doctors do home visits.
This has and do cost a lot of money and since my mom is a single parent without economical help from anyone I want to help them both in every way I possibly can so that Linnea can get the best help towards a “normal” life.
Thank you for reading this and I pray for your happiness and health.
I will update this page with pictures from the hospital and Linneas recovery as often as I can.
Lots of love from me to you!
Jannie ❤️
