Help my sister Sonia fight bile duct cancer
Donation protected
Hello kind people near and far. I have created this GoFundMe in an effort to help my one and only sister, friend, protector and one of a few blood relatives I have that is still alive.
Her name is Sonia. Some of you have met her or at least have heard me brag about her. Maybe you've heard me sing about her. We have been through unimaginable life altering events together and she means the world to me.
In June of last year, 1 week after her 60th birthday, she was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer called Cholangiocarcinoma , Bile Duct Cancer, stage II. After years and YEARS of going to doctors and emergency rooms in pain and severely unwell, they finally did imaging and found a giant mass in her liver. The mass is inoperable because of it's size and location. Unfortunately with this cancer, it is usually found in advanced stages when surgical removal isn't possible which is the best chance for a cure. One of a few remaining options for Sonia is a chemo cocktail, which she started on December 1st.
Sonia is going through intense rounds of chemo and she is STILL working because she has no choice AND she's a very determined cookie! She lives in Idaho where minimum wage is absurdly low and jobs are hard to come by. She works to pay rent and utilities for herself, her daughter and her grandson.
This fundraiser would help her to make payments on a used car, pay for necessities, bills and rent. It would afford her the opportunity to take much needed time off for rest and self care after chemo treatments. It would give her some peace of mind and ease her heavy heart enough to rest and not worry.
About this form of cancer: Bile duct cancer is rare and aggressive. Although the disease typically has an unfavorable outlook, an individual’s outlook depends on various factors, such as age, overall health, and their body’s response to treatment. The 5-year relative survival rates range between 2–24%. We believe Sonia has had this for at least 3 or more years. She is waiting for more imaging to
see if chemo has helped to shrink it.
