My name is Mary and I found out I had end stage renal disease in September (stage 5). I have applied for medicare and benefits because the disease had made me weak and I'm constantly in pain and exhausted. There seems to be a hold up with my application. I haven't received a letter about their decision and I have run out of money from having to live in a hotel near the hospital of where I get dialysis. I have been approved for a charity to help me with housing, but in order for them to decide how long and how much, they need a letter from my doctor. The main Doctor I've been seeing is the specialist and she says she cannot provide me the letter. That I must go to my PCP. I don't have one. I need to get one but with no insurance as of yet, it has been hard to find one that can provide me with one without having to pay for a check up. $$. I also need to see a cardiologist to make sure my heart isn't damaged to bad (recommended by the specialist). Then a psychiatrist, to get my anxiety under control because that's what's causing my blood pressure to get really high, which caused my kidney failure. And since I don't know when that is going to happen, and it's the holidays, I'm kind of stuck in a situation no one wants to be in.
I know $10,000 is a lot I'm asking for. I know I would never raised that much but I calculated some of the costs for medical (with no insurance) and it gets pretty high. Includes possible tests and x-rays, etc. ($ acquired from hospital bills from September). I spent 2 weeks in the hospital and my bill was a little over$20,000.
If you could help me with as much or as little as possible, I would be so appreciative. The goal amount is just a number that I would like to aim for. It's a horrible time for asking for help because of the holidays but I desperately need something good to happen for me and I'm praying that it might help here.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and God bless!
