Help Ms.Take Represent at Roller Derby World Cup

My name is Lisa Halsey (AKA Doom Shroom), and I’m looking to help raise money for the most passionate, self rooted, and loyal person that I’ve grown to know.

Her name is Nahyomi Painter-Escudero, also known as, MS.TAKE!

First, let me explain the reason for the nicknames. Ms.Take and I met 8 years ago at roller derby practice when we were both brand new skaters for Harrisburg Area Roller Derby. When you become a certified derby player, you have the honor of choosing your alter ego derby name!

We have skated together with H.A.R.D. Since the end of 2017. This is where she learned to skate and master all the positions on the track. She has been a coach, a fundraising and sponsorship chairperson, and is currently serving on our Executive Board as our Vice President. Her dedication and loyalty to this league has been unprecedented.

The motivation for this Go Fund Me is because Ms.Take has a once in a lifetime opportunity to go to Innsbruck, Austria for the Roller Derby WORLD CUP, where she has been invited to skate with team, Fuego Latino! Playing at this level of game play with a dreamteam is truly unreal. While this is a truly amazing opportunity, each skater must pay their own way to be part of these tournaments and the cost can sometimes become prohibitive.

For some background, eight months ago Ms.Take accomplished a major goal and fulfilled a dream to skate with Fuego Latino! Fuego Latino is a borderless team that creates a space that highlights and connects lantinx skaters around the country and across the world. This team represents the pride of their roots, indigenous heritage, cultures, and diversity. Since she was put on the Fuego Latino roster, she debuted in the Monsoon Madness Tournament in Mesa, Az and has played with them two times since.

It has been a privilege to watch this woman grow as a strong athlete, as a nurturing mother, and a Puerto Rican woman, who was born and raised on the island. I am truly in awe of her, and grateful everyday to be her friend, teammate and sister on wheels. I feel this is deserving because she will be representing women, lantinx, mothers, athletes, H.A.R.D., and Fuego.
