Help Nakia Rebuild After Health and Theft

Hello! My name is Amya. I am starting this GoFundMe for my best friend’s partner, Nakia Randleman.

Nakia has been suffering for years from severe asthma attacks. In 2023, he had five hospital visits due to not being able to breathe. He refused to miss work at Jaja as a wood fired seafood chef because his medications became very expensive. Although breathing in the smoke everyday was slowly ruining his lungs. At the beginning on 2024, after another hospital visit, he suffered from acute pneumonia, which turned into a sickness they would have never imagined. On March 6th, 2024, Nakia fell extremely ill into the night and asked his girlfriend Cassandra to be taken to the hospital. He was having chest pain, couldn't talk, move his body, or catch his breath. Immediately after entering the emergency room, he passed out with only 10% oxygen left in his body. Nakia was transported by a critical care team to another hospital and was placed on a ventilator for 8 days in the Coronary Care ICU. He then spent 5 days in a recovery unit doing physical and occupational therapy. It took him a month to gain the strength to stand or walk again, and required medical assistance within their home. Nakia had to resign from Jaja due to doctor's orders and was out of work for 2 months total.

This all took a huge toll on them both financially and mentally.

Nakia always resorted to his motorcycle for cheap transportation and a serotonin boost. Once he was able and regained his strength, he took his motorcycle for short rides around the cul-de-sac just to feel happiness and freedom, until he was able to go on full rides again.

On Tuesday, August 13th, his bike was stolen from an Ohio City parking lot while he was at work for Truss Event Catering. It might not be much to some but this small motorcycle was his most prized possession, and it took a lot of hard work and determination for him to get. He made the mistake of not having a full comprehensive policy, so theft wasn’t covered. Due to still drowning from medical bills, he doesn't have much money for extra activities, but he knew that he could throw 1 or 2 dollars in the motorcycle gas tank and have an outdoor adventure. This has truly broken their hearts that people did this and chose to steal away his and Cassandra's happiness after already having gone through so much. They used to go for long rides to beaches and parks every weekend, and enjoyed riding through neighborhoods to admire the beautiful houses throughout Lakewood and Cleveland. It will be a while before he is able to purchase another Navi.
