Help Nana get to cancer treatment

Hi, my name is Dacia, and I've promised my mom Sue Dodson aka Nana, that I would get her to MD Anderson to treat her rare cancer.

 

In December 2021, Nana underwent open-heart surgery to remove what her doctors believed was a benign Myxoma. However, they quickly realized a large cancerous tumor had infiltrated her heart. The bulk of the tumor was removed. However, they were unsuccessful in removing all the cancer cells. Nana immediately began consulting with an oncologist who recommended immunotherapy. After several treatments, the following scan showed that the tumor had returned and was even larger. At this point, her Oklahoma team of doctors have only been able to offer palliative care.

 

In May 2022, we took a trip to MD Anderson in Houston, Texas, and they offered Nana a treatment option, but time is of the essence. She will be admitted to start treatment on Friday, June 3. She has to relocate to the Houston area for 4-5 months to continue treatment. And to do that, we're going to need the support of a community with a big heart.

The charity housing options currently have a waiting list months long. Nana needs to be there NOW. We've found several apartment and Airbnb options in the medical center of Houston. They each range between $1,900-$2,500 a month. While we're working on moving her and my dad from Oklahoma, they have a hotel room near the hospital.

Nana has the will to fight, so we will not let the lack of funds stop her. Thank you for partnering with Nana and family in this journey.
