Help Naomi Continue Her Education At Howard U
Donation protected
Hello Everyone, my name is Naomi Spann. I am currently a Pre-Med Double Major in Biology and Philosophy at Howard University, on my path to becoming a neurosurgeon. The reason I am starting this fundraiser is in order to pay for my remaining tuition balance BY JULY 31st, 2022, so I can register for the upcoming Fall semester which starts in a few weeks.
Right before I entered my Sophomore year at Howard University, my Father died suddenly due to a pulmonary embolism in his lungs. Not only was I devastated at the loss of my best friend, but in the blink of an eye my mother became widowed, my brother and I were left fatherless, and our entire financial situation changed. We were never rich, but we had enough to keep our heads above water because of my father’s income. Now that he is no longer alive, we have been struggling even more. Over the last year, Howard has raised their tuition twice, making the cost of attending further out of my reach. While my mother works hard to pay the bills at home, the responsibility to pay for school is mostly on me. My scholarships have payed for a good bit, however, they do not cover the full cost. I have been working hard at my summer job, but other than this fundraiser, there is no realistic way that I will have the $10,000 that I need in order to register for classes, and continue my education at Howard.
Howard has provided me with more than just an education in the classroom, but it has also helped me to grow as an individual. Being here has helped me rediscover the poet in me, the artist in me, the scientist in me, the healer in me, the teacher in me, and so much more. Being at such an amazing HBCU is an experience that I wouldn’t trade for anything. It’s an experience that I cherish.
I appreciate the contributions you guys will make, and I am very thankful for the support. Even if you yourself are unable to donate, I appreciate you for sharing my story, and spreading this around.
As the saying goes, it takes a village. Thank you, and be blessed!
