Help Nas Dance Ballet- leaving NYC to live in the UK!
Greetings! I'm Subha. This fundraiser is for my oldest child, Nas who is 17!

He's graduating high school and was offered a 2-year contract with Birmingham Royal Ballet II in England!

Of course, I am so proud and excited for him to continue to do what he loves and trained so hard to accomplish. Moving from New York City to the U.K is going to be a huge adjustment and it's going to cost quite a bit since he'll be living on his own! He's ALWAYS had a village of people who have supported his dreams. So, I'm rallying the village again for a joyful cause!

About Nas:
Nas is such a kind, well-mannered, goofy, hard-working boy. He's been dancing since he could walk but he started formal dance training at Harlem School of the Arts when he was 7 years old where he trained and performed until he was about 15.

While there, he was sent to train with American Ballet Theater and did intensives in a variety of schools like Ballet Academy East and The Rock School. He performed all over NYC at venues like Radio City Music Hall and Summer Stage.

From ages 8-12, he was also a gymnast with the Wendy Hilliard Gymnastics Foundation who competed and placed nationally in USA Gymnastics each year. He was even recognized by Gabby Douglass and the team at Under Cover Boss.

Needless to say, the child's work ethic is sick and he's been so blessed with amazing opportunities and dedicated teachers! He went to school during the day, then trained after school and on weekends. He is dedicated to his craft. At the height of the pandemic, one month into sophomore year, Nas came to me with a presentation that proposed he rent out a studio to audition for a boarding school called, Kirov Academy. I try to support him so rather than say no, I highlighted the reasons why I didn't think it would work to dissuade him... Lo and behold, a week later he was accepted and offered a generous scholarship! I wasn't ready for that outcome but I had to let him go.

While there, he competed in YAGP- Youth American Grand Prix and placed regionally and went on to perform nationally!

He's now a senior at Walnut Hill School for the Arts just outside of Boston. This year has been tough. He lost his g-grandma Ruby on dad's side and Abu, my father. It took a toll on him physically and mentally but he persevered and stayed grounded. He's fasted and prayed and danced and trained...

In a few weeks, he graduates. Then he travels to Mississippi for yet another renowned competition, IBC- International Ballet Competition!

Village, Nas and I appreciate and graciously accept all of your well wishes, your prayers for his continued good health and success! Your donations will help us to get him closer to his dreams of dancing and living abroad!
