Help Nate and Katie with Pearl's Emergency Vet Visit

Donation protected
On Saturday, October 26th, Nate and Katie received a call from their neighbor that smoke was coming out of their house. Nate and Katie were not home at the time, and the neighbor immediately asked if their pets were inside, said firefighters were on the way, and the call disconnected. Unable to get ahold of their neighbor, Nate and Katie drove as fast as they could, scared of what they might find.

As they drove up, they saw several fire trucks and an ambulance lining the street. Then they saw firefighters taking both Behr, their cat, and Pearl, their rescue dog they got last year, out of the house in their arms. The amazing and heroic firefighters immediately started CPR for Pearl, making a makeshift oxygen mask out of supplies they had. She was alive but unconscious. After several minutes, Nate and Katie saw Pearl's head pop up, dazed and confused.

With a heavy heart and deep sadness, Behr, their cat, did not make it - the smoke was too much.

Pearl was immediately taken to an emergency vet clinic and had to stay overnight for two nights, living in an oxygen tent with staff checking her vitals and lungs. She also took in a lot of smoke and dealt with nausea. Thankfully, Pearl was able to come home on Monday, October 28th. She is still recovering from the traumatic incident, but we know she can only heal from here and is with two amazing and loving owners by her side.

In regards to the fire, Nate and Katie found out later that their kitchen started on fire, and thankfully the fire didn't spread outside of the kitchen, but their house did suffer severe smoke damage.

I am creating this GoFundMe page for all those who know Nate and Katie and wish to support them during this difficult time. Pearl's medical bill was $4,700, and while Nate and Katie are planning to pay for this on their own, I know there are amazing friends and family who love them and support them and who want to help. THANK YOU, thank you for helping in any capacity you can to support with Pearl's medical bill. Thank you also for the comforting words, prayers, and support. Nate and Katie were also able to say their goodbyes to Behr, and she is now in peace.
