Help Nate escape his hostile environment & family

Hi,

My friend Nate lives in South Africa at the moment and is currently trying to move away as he is unable to live safely there. He is transgender and lesbian but his family and much of the local community around there are hostile towards LGBT people, and his life would be in danger if he ever tried to live as an openly LGBT person there. His family is also religious and try to force their religion on him and are abusive to him which affects his mental health severely, and he suffers from depression.

Nate is currently in a long-distance relationship with his fiancé who lives in Germany. They've been together for 3 years now but have been unable to meet up due to financial reasons and the COVID-19 pandemic. He'll be able to move to the UK and live with them and escape his family as soon as he can, but plane tickets from South Africa and the relocation costs are very expensive. The South African currency is also very weak and the average wages in the country are considerably lower than in the UK so it will take at least another 3-4 years for him to save up enough money on his own. His mental health is already deteriorating because of his current living situation and another 3-4 years there will be extremely difficult for him to endure in an unsafe environment.

In total Nate needs approximately £8000 to relocate which includes the plane and cargo tickets to bring his things with him as well as the visa and being able to afford accommodation initially. He has already managed to save up money on his own and through friends but it's still nowhere near enough.

Any help would be appreciated immensely, I've been friends with him for 4 years and I've seen how much he's struggling over there, and the sooner he is able to move the sooner he'll be able to get his life back on track and live freely and safely.
