Nate's Battle to Recovery

Nate was a victim of a drive-by shooting in Spokane, WA where I am from, on April 9th. A disgruntled man who was intoxicated, shot out of his vehicle hitting three people. Our Nate heard the initial shots and yelled for everyone to get down prior to being hit himself. He immediately received medical care and was transferred to a hospital in critical condition. Right now he is receiving multiple medical interventions to reduce the swelling on his brain, to allow it to heal.

 

Nate is a miracle already in the sense that the bullet, which should have penetrated all the way through his brain, stopped just outside his brainstem, which was not affected, allowing him to survive this initial trauma. He has brain activity, and some reflexes so far.

 

After a meeting with the neurosurgeon, he stated that the best case scenario (we are praying for) is that Nate will be mentally there and able to still able to verbally respond meaningfully (this area of his brain was preserved). He will have left sided paralysis, which at this time we are moving forward to do everything for him.

 

We are asking for your support with his expenses related to Nate’s health and recovery. I Allyccia Hansen, Nate's sister, will be designating the GofundMe donations for Nate's transportation, not covered by insurance to a Traumatic Brain Injury Program in Colorado. Any additional funds will go towards physical therapy and rehabilitation, not covered by his insurance(his insurance doesn't afford him the quality of care he is needing). The GoFundMe donations will be transferred to a bank account in my name, but seperate from my own bank account. I have been financially covering Nate as of now, because I do not have access to his banking information or bank account. The GoFundMe donations will be used to pay his medical needs and care directly from the designated bank account setup under  Allyccia Hansen for Nathanael Beier. This will minimize his financial burden and stressors during this journey.
