Help Nathan Build His First House.

2 years ago, just before being contacted to be on the most serious survival show on television, ALONE season 6, I was deep into the planning stages of building my own first home. A pole-framed tiny house that I had already blue-printed and begun collecting materials for.
Then ALONE took over the next year and a half of my life as I put EVERYTHING into training, shooting the show, then the long recovery back to strength and health after loosing over a quarter of my body weight. After 72 days alone surviving in the wilderness, and filming it all, a catastrophic fire consumed my camp and sent me home without the prize money. Millions watched as my dreams turned to flame, and I committed to find another way.
At the heart of those dreams is a tiny house. One I've designed myself, and will build myself (with some help from loved ones), from the ground up. Using mostly salvaged, sustainably harvested, and up-cycled materials, a lot of ingenuity, and my years of experience from working construction starting at the age of 12... And stubbornness.
This house will be the nucleus of realizing the rest of those dreams. Not just a home, but a home-base, out of which I will build on and create my future as a land steward, community member, and teacher of survival and nature awareness skills.
Over the decades I have given tens of thousands of hours as a volunteer and professional to preserve and restore our wild lands, teach others, especially youth, how to maintain a planet worth living on, and generally just fighting for all that I find holy. I am an extremely thrifty man, but that line of work does not pay what it should and the cost of living in my community is high. This house will represent a great increase in my stability, while saving me a lot of money on housing costs.
On ALONE it became apparent that I don't know how to quit. I will build this house. But it needs a foundation, and that's what this campaign is for.
I am not yet a land owner, and so my home must be able to move to it's future site(s), until I am. To that end, this tiny homes foundation will be a heavy duty trailer frame on wheels, which was the crux of my progress before ALONE. Despite looking for months it became apparent the trailer I would need would have to be purpose built for the task, and the going rate for a decent one is in the neighborhood of $4000, hence my target goal. Even this I hope to weld up from scratch with the help of friends and relatives, which will save money that can be folded into the rest of the build. I have many of the materials already; windows, doors, lumber, even the kitchen the sink! But I cannot go further until I have a firm foundation. Additional funds, if I am so lucky to surpass my goal, will go into phase 2 of the project. That being solid solar energy and rain water collection systems so I can be completely off the grid and utilize even totally raw land for a future home.
And, just like on ALONE, I'm going to film the whole process and give updates on my progress to the family of supporters who help me on this campaign and want to see me win after all.
This is not going to be just any tiny house. I will be pole framing this house with peeled logs and hand carved joinery techniques in the exposed framing, I have designed it to be hyper efficient and utilize sustainable materials. It will even have a basement! If you want to see how I pull all that off in a home on wheels, THEN GIVE ME A HAND AND WATCH ME BUILD IT!
Thank you so much for your support. I do not take it lightly.
