Two Boys, One Paddling, and a Lifetime of Brotherhood: The Unfolding of an Unbreakable Bond
Hello, I'm Rajiv Hudek. If you're reading this, you're about to embark on a journey that began decades ago in the hallways of Bellwood Baptist School. Nathan Righthouse and I were just two second-graders, naively vying for the affections of the same girl. We fought, we got caught, and we both got paddled so harshly that we walked back into the classroom, tears streaming down our faces. It was a pivotal moment that neither of us could have realized would bind us as brothers for life.
Seasons Change, But Some Things Stay the Same
As we grew, so did our friendship. Though high school split us up, the strength of our bond pulled us back every time. Nathan was the guy who’d drive miles to the remote town of LaFayette to care for his ailing grandfather when no one else could. The kind of friend who'd deny me the $20 I'd ask for under the false pretext, knowing well that it would fuel my addiction. He stood by me when I stumbled, without ever letting me fall.
We spent Halloweens carving pumpkins with his son and his nieces and nephews. Christmases were special at Opryland Hotel, where we exchanged gifts and made lifelong memories with our favorite niece GraceFace. As for the culinary world, let's just say Nathan never hesitated to indulge in the Indian side of my heritage. He could never get enough of my mom’s chicken curry or her Gulaab Jamuns. In fact, Nathan was all set to accompany me on a trip to India in grade school, and he's jokingly held a grudge against his mom for not letting him go!
The Man Behind the Smiles: A Pillar Now Needing Support
Nathan has been a rock—a provider for his large family, a loving husband, and a good balance of strict, but doting father. His heart and home have always been open, not just for me but for everyone who needed a shoulder, advice, or a hearty laugh.
And now, Nathan is up against a fight like he's never faced before: Stage 4 colon cancer that has spread to his liver and lymph nodes. After a belated diagnosis, he's plunged into debilitating treatments, leaving him incapacitated for days on end.
The Gravity of Needs
- Continuous medical treatments and surgeries on the horizon.
- Immediate financial support to sustain his family and meet living expenses.
- Emotional and psychological strength to weather this storm.
It's Our Turn
Nathan's immediate and pressing needs are multi-faceted. His ongoing medical treatments, coupled with surgeries, make it impossible for him to work. This is where you and I come in. Our collective support can offer him a fighting chance at survival, without the added stress of looming bills and expenses.
While I can't cover all his costs single-handedly, what I can do is bring together a community of compassionate souls who can contribute in any way they can. If you can't donate, please consider sharing this campaign. A little light goes a long way, and it's time for that light to shine brightly on Nathan Righthouse, the man who's been a beacon for so many of us.
How the Funds Will Be Spent and Delivered
Your contributions will go directly toward:
- Nathan's medical bills, including surgeries, chemotherapy, and radiation treatments.
- Living expenses like rent, utilities, and groceries to support his family while he's unable to work.
- Emotional and psychological support, including potential therapy sessions.
The funds raised will be withdrawn by me, Rajiv Hudek, and handed directly to Nathan and his family to ensure they're allocated as specified.
Every little bit helps and will be appreciated! Thank you in advance.
