Help Neal Beat Cancer and Ride Again

On September 28, 2024, my brother-in-law Neal received news that he had testicular cancer. It had spread to his abdomen and neck. A procedure was performed to add a nephrostomy tube, and chemotherapy started right away.

The first round of chemotherapy was completed at Kaiser Permanente Walnut Creek as an in-patient so Neal’s medical team could closely monitor his treatment. With his positivity and overwhelming support from family & friends, he made it through his first week strong & ready to fight.

There are 3 more rounds of chemotherapy, followed by surgery and countless appointments. Neal is fighting hard so he can return to his love of riding his bike & chasing his niece Lola (5) and nephew Vance (3). Neal has gifted my children with the love of bike riding, and they frequently go on weekend rides searching for unicorns or grabbing a donut.

Just a few months prior to his diagnosis, Neal had completed a 28-day bicycle ride from Sequim, Washington to Tijuana River Camp. Cancer was spreading throughout his body during this ride, and he kept hitting the pavement day after day, mile after mile, completing around 1800 miles. Having this kind of determination will get Neal through this hard time.

In the meantime, he is dreaming up plans to help others, especially children whose lives are affected by cancer.
