Help needed against rare bowel cancer
Donation protected
Hi I'm Catherine and married to my soulmate, who is a loving, supportive and caring husband and also father to our two beautiful daughters aged 6 and 3. We received the most hardest news earlier this year that my husband has a rare cancer that impacts 3% of bowel cancer patients. Considering he was running 15km's a week we were very shocked of the news.
We have had the most challenging year fighting this cancer and things are not looking good for his survival without targeted treatment.
I am in desperate need of your help to fund new treatment that is only available in Mexico that will see him recover from this horrible disease. I can't bear to think of the grief to our daughters and myself if we lost him. All my husband wants is to spend quality time with us and be around for his daughters as they grow up.
About His Cancer Journey
Initial diagnosis found a large tumor in his bowel that also included spread of tumors to his liver, making him stage 4. The bowel tumor was removed with open surgery.
Since then he has done two types of chemotherapy treatment offered in Australia, both which were unresponsive from the start where existing tumors grew bigger and he had further spread of new tumors in his liver and also new tumors in his lungs.
This meant he needed targeted drug therapy rather than chemotherapy.
His liver is being impacted more and more as the tumors grow and unfortunately he has not been successful in gaining entry to a sponsor funded trial that uses the targeted drug he needs due to their tight blood requirements.
No other treatments in Australia will work for him. He has been classed as terminal and the cancer continues to grow aggressively.
This pushed me to research overseas treatments and I was recommended by a friend who had successful treatment at a clinic in Mexico that offers advanced treatment for stage 4 bowel cancer patients. Their treatment includes intratumoral immunotherapy that is not available in Australia.
Your help will go towards funding his medical expenses for this treatment which amounts to 450K AUD.
We need your help now because each day that passes he is getting weaker and don't know how long he has left. Please share this with your communities and we are forever grateful of all donations received.
Despite all the bad news so far my husband continues to stay positive things will turn around for us. Since the start of this journey he continues to do daily exercise and maintain a healthy diet.
Live life to the fullest each day.
Kind regards,
