Help needed for Susan and Alexa's Apartment!

Hello!

This fundraiser is to help raise funds for the first few months of rental for an apartment for Susan Coreas and Alexa Ponc in New York City, NY. Susan and Alexa met each other in El Salvador almost two years ago. As they are both trans-women refugees from El Salvador, they have had a long and arduous journey from El Salvador, then to Juarez (Mexico), then to El Paso (Texas) then finally to New York City, NY. From being persecuted for their identity (transphobia), to Title 42, to COVID 19, to xenophobia, to facing literal assault and harm - they have endured a lot in finding asylum.

While traveling through countries in order to navigate the asylum process into the United States, Susan and Alexa accomplished a lot within the LGBTQIA community and for trans refugees crossing into the United States in Juarez, Mexico. They lead and managed a shelter for LGBTYQIA folks/ refugee migrants called, "Casa de Colores." Here is an article that talks more about that:

Susan and Alexa are currently residing in friends' homes in New Jersey and New York City as they await their asylum cases. However, there is a time limit as to the length of time that they can stay there because of their friends' living situations. Also, because of their visa status, they are not allowed to work in the United States until May 2022. Because of that, they are looking for help in raising funds for the first few months of rent (or at least until May 2022) for a one bedroom apartment in Queens, NY, and food and supplies as well. This is an urgent matter and the funds are needed as soon as possible.

Therefore we are trying to raise $2000 at a time, in order to help get a one bedroom apartment in Queens and for food and supplies until May 2022. The funds will go directly for the bare necessities.
