Help Nehal's beloved family get to safety in Egypt
Donation protected
Dear Friends, Family, and Compassionate Supporters,
I am reaching out to you in a time of profound urgency, seeking your assistance in raising funds for the emergency evacuation of my cousin's family from Gaza.
I have set up this GoFundMe for Ali, Nehal, and their four children who wish to start a new life in Egypt. The situation in Gaza is dire and the airstrikes are relentless. Our goal is to raise funds so my family can evacuate and begin a new chapter away from the tribulations they have already faced. We are incredibly grateful for any donations you make.
Below is a letter from Nehal on behalf of her family:
Hello! This is Nehal, 29, a writer and teacher.
I have always adored novels, those which move your feelings to a different place. A plot that confuses your thoughts, a hero who stands from the rubble to save a beloved person, their country, or defend his principles.
But this time due to the horrific war in Gaza, we need YOU to be the heroes of our story. A story of losing work, a business, dreams, and a home. It's miraculous how we still have the strength to even narrate this or write it.
Let me tell you in brief why we need your help.
I lost my dream of working as a fixed-term teacher at UNRWA schools, a job that I tried hard to deserve and I was really close. It is a loss of $1200 per month salary.
During my years at a contract job, I mastered voice-over skills. I was about to build my own studio, then...you know the rest.
This destructive war in Gaza is still devastating our ambitious life plans.

And those cute kids in the picture are my children. My four bright young children who are deprived of their simplest right. Safety.
To feel safe, we left our home in Gaza on the 13th of October. Since then, we moved from one house to another from a hospital to another from one dangerous place to another.
With the increasing danger around us, we decided to take our children to the south of Gaza, where the IDF falsely ensures safety. And guess what, we witnessed fear wherever we went.
And losses we struggle to count.
We lost 24 of our family members, my husband's job as a school principal, a small business (a store that sells home appliances and a loss of $80,000), and even his university which was supposed to approve his Ph.D. thesis.
From that moment I can't stop myself thinking about my children's fate and mine too.
Will they be able to sleep without fear?
Will they eat a different dish than salted cheese?
Will they be able to learn in an appropriate school?
Will they get the proper health care if they get sick?
Will they get our home back?
Will we be able to raise them as good citizens in these hard circumstances!?
A wave of questions in my head.
Then what!?
Finally the answer!
Evacuating Gaza is the answer.
To get out from Gaza to Eygpt we need:
- CA $20,700 ±$50 (US $15,000) Evacuation Fees for one (1) adult and four (4) children (Nehal + Layan, Juman, Sham, and Yahya)
- CA $6,900 ±$25 (US $5,000) Evacuation Fees for one (1) adult (Ali, 35)
- CA $825 ±$5 ( US $600) Obtaining new passport fees for the entire family
- CA$14,000 ±$250 (US $10,000) Living expenses (renting accommodations, food, new clothes for my children other than their worn clothes)
- CA$14,000 ±$250 (US $10,000) Education fees and mental health support
- CA$2,750 ±$15 (US $2,000) towards GoFundMe transaction fee, currency conversion, and wire/international transfer fees.**
** Due to the uncertainty of displacement and the inflation of costs in warzones, there may be unexpected surges in prices; exchange rates, cost of goods, and third-party agent commissions.
These aspirations may never be achieved without your kindness and support.
I chose to be clear in detail to give you a glimpse of how your donations to my family may change our lives.
I don't ask for anything but to help my family to be safe.
Your support will give us a great chance for innocent children to live healthy lives.
Your support will help a great researcher to continue his academic pursuits.
Your support will help me as a mother and loving wife to have hope and to keep moving forward.
Your support will convince my children that HEROES are still out there.
Thank you for everything,
