Help Nepalese Diaspora and NHS fight Covid-19
Help Nepalese diaspora in Scotland and NHS fight Covid-19 !
Over 157,000 people have caught Corona in the UK with over 22,000 deaths. The Covid-19 pandemic has turned our lives upside down with no clear end in sight as we continue to live in unprecedented and uncertain times with Covid-19 changing the way we live, work, study and socialise. The impact of the coronavirus has extended far beyond those who have become infected. Entire communities now face emergency lockdown which has brought great financial burden on the families, who survived marginally on daily manual labour and affected many international students who don't have their family at this crisis and have limited financial and other support. Scotland and Nepali community here are no exception.
To help the Nepalese diaspora, our Nepalese community volunteers and have worked tirelessly distributing emergency rations for those who were unable to purchase food, help with emergency rents where landlords tried forcefully evict individuals despite government’s recommendation.
In the days and weeks ahead, we understand that many of the vulnerable in our community will be affected even more as we continue to struggle from basic needs like food to emergency financial situations. In times like this, we need to set our politics aside and just focus on helping those that are in need.
This is why all NRNA Scotland and all 13 Nepalese organisations across Scotland have decided to unite as one force in fighting Covid -19 . We want to directly support individuals impacted by the Virus for quick, immediate response from all parts of Scotland .
What have we done so far?
-NRNA Scotland and 13 different organisations representative and various individuals across Scotland have been helping dozens of individuals with their problems.
-We Had a formal conversation with the Nepal Government and Nepal Embassy who have given full authority to NRNA Scotland and other organisations to help Nepali citizens that are in need.
-We have set up a health committee with doctors and nurses who offer health and mental health-related advises.
-We Had formal meeting with 43 representatives from all over Scotland who agreed on a united team to help Nepalese diaspora in Scotland and the NHS. This then resulted in a new committee where all 13 Nepalese organisations across Scotland are involved with NRNA Scotland.
-We have a dedicated website where anyone that is affected by Corona can notify their concerns by filling the form where we get back to everyone within 24 hours! https://nrnascotland.com/our-media/
Why donate for us?
After lengthy research on the problems affecting the community at the moment, we have helped many but we need to do more . With the unity from all over Scotland and your funding, we can centralise and locate those that need help and act on them immediately. The dedicated volunteers from each organisation will ensure there is transparency at all times and hold each other accountable We are also a registered charity which means if you are a UK taxpayer, we will receive 25 % extra to help those that need us most.
What will we do with the funding that is raised?
With this unified volunteer disaster relief team across Scotland , we will continue to identify issues affecting our community and deal with them instantly. Our focus is providing food to families, students and individuals in this difficult time and to help with any emergency situation.
How will we manage the fund?
Due to the scale of aid requirement and to make everything very transparent, Gofundme campaign was launched which is being coordinated and managed by volunteers from these organisation to make things transparent and to hold each other accountable at all times for quick work.
How will we ensure transparency?
We will update on the work that we carry / funding that we have received twice a week. A full summary of the audited accounts will be published and an acknowledgement letter from NRNA Scotland and all 13 Nepalese organisation will be sent to everyone that helped us in these difficult times.
What will happen with funds that are not used?
