Help Neve, Christina and Nick Leeson

As community let's help Nick and Christina have a good Christmas. This week Christina shared that a date had been set:

We got an early Christmas miracle! Neve is set to have her brain surgery on December 21! We will be spending our Christmas in the BC Children’s Hospital away from friends and family, but this is the best gift we could have ever asked for! I told Rory we would be back for her birthday, but we don’t know yet. #brainwarrior #focalcorticaldysplasia #braintumourawareness.

It was mid October, Nick and Christina had been living through the nightmare of their little girl, Neve, having muliple seizures a day. They were in Vancouver, away from their home in Yellowknife. On Oct 14th Christina shared their story:

Neve update: I’ve been quiet on this as we have waited for results and follow ups. We’ve tried diets and sleep schedules to get her seizures under control, but she has still never gone longer than a day and a half seizure free.

Her neurology team met with the neurosurgery team and discussed Neve’s case - and we spoke with them today. Her neurosurgeon confirmed that Neve has a tumour in her right temporal lobe, and that it’s possible that she also has dysplasia - which is all causing her seizures. She will likely be having brain surgery in January, but possibly December if there is a cancellation - or earlier if there is an emergency.

As we try to stay positive and patient, now we have to start thinking about medical travel, work schedules, how to manage the kids and school and daycare, and the cat. It’s all very overwhelming.

Lots of tears, but it’s also great to have some answers. Thank you to everyone for all the thoughts and prayers.
