HELP! New Roof Required!
Donation protected
“Raise the Roof” fundraiser!
Our 1970 flat roof is leaking profusely and is in dire need of replacement! Without a functioning Clubroom, our branch will not survive.
The “Matthew J. Dawe Memorial Legion,” Royal Canadian Legion Branch 631, located in beautiful west-end Kingston, needs your HELP.
We pride ourselves on being a community-based Legion and honourably serve our veterans and community, ensuring that our city shows its respect for our fallen heroes and veterans, who have given so much for their country.
“Matt’s Place”, ensures that all veterans in our area have a place to come to for comfort and support. We donate space for memorial events, fundraisers and are proudly designated as an emergency evacuation centre for a local senior’s residence.
New steel roofing over our banquet hall and approximately $100,000 of structural repair to our foundation have been completed. Next on our list of priorities is replacing the flat roof section, which was budgeted for and scheduled for spring of 2020. Unfortunately, Covid came along, and our source of income was cut off, forcing us to spend the majority of our cash reserves on hydro, maintenance and other bills, just to give ourselves a chance to survive.
Deemed by our Toronto area sister Legion to be a viable and exemplary run branch, they have supported us with a loan. We are very grateful for their support, but our final cost for the roof is anticipated to be approximately $110,000!!
Any financial support that you may be able to offer, would be gratefully appreciated and faithfully applied to this cause. Please contact "Matt's Place", Royal Canadian Legion Branch 631 directly, if you wish to donate by cash or cheque.
Membership is not required to be welcomed into our Legion, and we enjoy the opportunity to show our gratitude and appreciation for our community support!
Your local Legion needs you.
Sincerely,
Gord Rittwage
