Help Nicole In Her Fight Against Rectal Cancer

On October 3, 2022, our world came to a complete standstill. Nicole was diagnosed with Stage 3C rectal cancer. I remember calling her on the phone and we both just cried together. Within hours my mother and I were by her side at her first doctor’s appointment with her surgeon. So much has transpired since this first visit and Nicole is now weeks into chemotherapy and radiation treatment. We are grateful to have a wonderful team of highly skilled and experienced physicians and patient advocates supporting her and helping her in this fight. Nicole is currently in her first round of treatment - Chemotherapy and Radiation combined and will later receive 6-12 rounds of Chemotherapy with the plan to remove the tumor sometime next year. I cannot begin to describe Nicole's dedication and strength through this entire journey. Nicole is balancing her full-time job as a teacher while going to radiation treatments, receiving chemotherapy, numerous scans, blood tests, infusions, and the many doctors visits required to aggressively treat her cancer. From the very beginning my goal has been to support my sister in every way possible, to advocate for her and to minimize any outside stressors as much as I can so that she can primarily focus on her health and treatment. We are thankful that Nicole has wonderful health insurance, but sadly the out-of-pocket expenses have been adding up for Nicole. Her treatment ahead will require her to miss some work and eventually take time off. After many loving friends and family members encouragement I decided to start this GoFundMe to help support Nicole during this time. Nicole’s faith and unwavering love for God has guided her in this journey and the power of prayer is truly healing. Whether you are able to donate or cannot afford to, I ask that you pray for my sister. Pray for her strength and healing. Pray that she will be cancer free and continue to live her life with purpose. Nicole has impacted the lives of so many others, as an educator, an advocate for her students, a co-worker, a friend, a daughter, a sister and so much more to those that love her. Nicole is so grateful for all the love and support around her. We were recently chatting on the phone, and I asked her, “How are you feeling?” as her voice cracked and she started to cry, she said, “Loved…. I have never felt so loved by so many people in my life.”
