Help Nigel Heal

Hi, my name is Liz, and I am fundraising to help my roommate and best friend Nigel.

Shortly after the New Year Nigel fell ill with what he thought was just a cold or the flu. There was a lot of that going around so he didn’t really think anything of it. After a couple of days of rest and the usual remedies for a cold or Flu he did not improve and progressively got worse. On Sunday January 7th, I took him to an urgent care center where they quickly determined he needed more assistance than they could give, and he was taken by ambulance to the ER at Orlando Health. He was in critical condition and quickly put in the ICU where it was determined he had an invasive form of the Strep A virus that became septic, entering his blood stream and causing Toxic Shock and his organs rapidly to shut down. To save his life he had to be intubated but before that happened the doctors, his family and loved ones told him he needed to fight, and he did!! He is alive and making small improvements every day but is certainly not out of the woods and will have a very long road of recovery ahead of him. He will need lots of therapy, including, physical, speech and occupational.

He is so grateful to be alive today and is overwhelmed by the love and prayers being sent his way.

If you can donate it would give Nigel peace of mind so that he can concentrate on healing and working hard to return to his normal life.
