Help Nikki finally get to the world championships

Hey I’m Nikki and as well as a working mum to 5 children, I’m a triathlete looking to see how far I can get in the world of triathlon.

In 2019 I was selected to represent team GB age group team in the world triathlon age group championships in Canada. Sadly, covid had other plans and the world championships was eventually cancelled.

In 2020 there wasn’t any racing at all, so when 2021 came around we were all ready and raring to go. I had trained incredibly hard over the winter and the covid months never taking my eye of the prize. I was in the best shape I had ever been in.

In June 2021 I went on to become BRITISH CHAMPION in my age group, up in Leeds. I was ecstatic. I knew I was in good shape, but this was truly the first time I had started to believe that maybe I could compete with the best. I was starting to believe in myself and what I am capable of.

In April 2021 I put in a last-minute application in to be selected to compete for the GB age group team at the European championships in Valencia and I was selected. The disappointment of the worlds was now a distant memory, and all my focus was on Valencia and the European champs. I just wanted to put that GB kit on.

In September I competed in the European championships in Valencia finishing with a silver medal just 5 seconds from 1st place. I was over the moon, I had battled to get there, and I had made the podium! I couldn’t be prouder. Nikki Lilley Silver medalist at the European championships sounds ok right? what an experience it was.

SO NOW there is this fire in my belly to get to the world championships 2022 in Abu Dhabi…I have qualified for 3 championship events with team GB in 2022, but the worlds are where I want to go next.

I am still improving, training hard and having the best time. I can’t wait represent Team GB again and this time take on the world. The Europeans was such an amazing experience, but the worlds will be the next level, I’d love to see what I can do or just how it feels.

To do this I need to fund myself, as an older athlete there really isn’t much help out there and I simply don’t have the money to take out of the family pot.

I went to Valencia based on the generosity of others and I will always be so touched by how many people supported me. I couldn’t of don’t it without you all.

I am having the best time, I love what I do and I love showing my kids that you really you can reach your dreams, sport has changed my life.
