Help Nilakshan and Sashan to fund their education

Hi,

my family and I are raising funds for a cause that is very close to our hearts ♥️

The father, Jeyeram, was our family Tuk Tuk driver for nearly two decades and one of the most reliable, honest and genuine people I had ever met. In 2020, he became very ill (diabetic, heart patient), had two heart attacks, and lost his eyesight which meant he could not provide for his family anymore. Shortly after, the mother (Sri Kanthi) was diagnosed with cancer and underwent several treatments which left her extremely weak and frail.

Their two sons, Nilakshan (21) and Sashan (17) have been looking after their parents since 2020, who from that point onward required 24/7 care. However, the parents always strived for a better future for their sons. Until they fell ill, they always ensured the boys were attending school, extra classes and excelled in their studies.

A week after the video was filmed, the father passed away. Two months later, the mother passed away.

Both boys are now on their own and living off food and small financial donations from relatives and friends. They have lived through many hardships in recent years and now only have each other. But, they deserve a brighter future and both boys are keen and willing to engage in further studies or training to live the life that their parents envisioned they would have one day.

Nilakshan (the elder son) excelled at his studies before his parents fell ill. He was known as the "studious one". He would like to study accountancy by attending a course at the Chartered Institute of Accounting in Sri Lanka starting in January 2025. The course takes 3 years (2 years of classes + 1 year of practicals) and costs 200,000 rupees (600 € / 670 USD).

Sashan (the younger son) was always described as the more "hands-on" brother and is keen to become a mechanic through an apprenticeship.

Help us fund their education and basic living expenditure, for the duration of 3 years when their courses complete and they have the skills to get into employment.

This means, the brothers will need about 2,000,000 rupees (6000€ / 6700 USD) to get them through the next 3 years and give them the means for a better and brighter future. (If you are interested in the calculations, I have noted them down below).

My family and I will ensure they both attend their courses and will support them where we can. We will also provide them with their living allowance each month.

I appreciate any donation no matter how small, as it will allow these two boys to live independently one day ♥️

Calculations:

Per month, they currently need about 45-50,000 rupees (135-149 € / 150-166 USD) to pay for daily expenses, food, electricty and water).

50,000 x 36 (months)= 1,800,000 rupees (5400 € / 6000 USD)

Additionally, Nilakshan's course at the Chartered Institute of Accounting will cost 200,000 rupees (600 € / 670 USD)

Total: 2,000,000 rupees (6000€ / 6700 USD) to get them through the next 3 years
