Help Nina recover from her serious accident.

Hello to all Nina’s dear friends around the globe, it’s Margot (Margs) here. I’m a long-time friend and collaborator of Nina’s (based in Margaret River WA) and just one member of her massive global network.

As you may know by now, Nina Angelo has had a really nasty fall which has landed her in the Trauma Ward of The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne this past week with broken arm, wrist, shoulder, rib, toe; a shocking accident falling down stairs in the dark of the night (sleepy and fully sober) on Phillip Island in Victoria.

Following on the tail of her huge success at the independent booksellers expo event, ABLE (Authors Book Launch and Expo) in Melbourne last weekend, Nina and her dear friend and wing-woman Kathryn (visiting from UK) have found themselves with the huge challenges of navigating this utter change in reality, in a city they don’t know, with very few resources, and floods all over the country between them and home.

They are being fully supported in Melbourne by the generous folks of the ABLE event, Hassan and Sarifa, but the time has come for us, as her long-time community of friends, to chime in together to help facilitate the financing of this unexpected rocky journey from here …

We would also like to keep the momentum going on this, her second opportunity to successfully launch her book - Don’t Cry, Dance. As many of you know, she went through a tough lymphoma journey and then the pandemic after the first launch, and now this confounding reality loop comes around again.

It takes a long time to build momentum and reach the many audiences who love and ‘will Iove’ a special book like Nina’s … with all the work and incredible resilience she’s put in thus far, she sure needs and deserves as much support as we can muster, so both Nina and her book do not lose the momentum over this next three + months of recovery.

“Trust and surrender”, as Nina says, is surely all she can do right now … so we’re aiming to keep the stars aligned in the meantime

Here’s the aim:
- to support darling Nina, and blessed Kathryn to hold and support her, in all the love, time, duty of care and logistics needed while they navigate from here.
- to get both dear women home to MacMasters via whichever means is judged to be the least risky, as quickly as possible.
- to help get the car home independently if needs be.
- to help Nina’s family and friends look after and support her once she’s there.
- To help cover the ongoing medical costs of Nina’s hospital and rehabilitation, including pain-relief, ongoing orthopaedic care, physio and whatever it takes.
- To help support her financially in the meantime.
- To get someone on board as an ongoing assistant as Nina has lost the use of her vital right arm for some time.
- Activate the resources required to support Nina keeping her book launch momentum going and reaching the potential audiences she had planned.
- all the other stuff that we can’t even imagine that’s going to need to be funded.

We will try post regular updates, alongside Nina’s live posts to keep you informed.

Any amount you can offer here will be so welcome. We may change and extend as time goes by, depending on how everything pans out with costs in the long term.

But for now, let’s start pooling resources to help our darling Nina and her “essential” Kathryn, move forward in “trust and surrender” as they unravel what’s happened physically, spiritually and emotionally, and begin the long journey to home and healing.

With love and thanks
Margot xx
