Help Nisa and her Family Get Back On Their Feet

On July 15th at around 4 am, Nisa Hernandez, a pregnant mother of two, was driving to work for the 1st shift at ePac Flexible Packaging in Schiller Park, IL Just five minutes after starting her commute, a drunk driver crossed the median and hit Nisa’s car head on.

 

Moments later, Nisa’s fiancee, Jose, was driving home from the 2nd shift (where Nisa and Jose work at the same company) when Jose arrived to discover the devastating scene.

 

 

 

 

The ambulances rushed Nisa to the hospital. Nisa’s unborn child appears to thankfully be OK and all vitals were normal. But Nisa suffered severe bruising, cuts on her head, and a broken wrist which required surgery.

 

Nisa was immediately scheduled for wrist surgery, and while prepping for the operation she complained of pain in her head. The medical staff found shattered pieces of windshield embedded in her head, which they successfully removed.

 

Nisa’s surgery involved inserting a metal pin and plates in her wrist. She will need the pin and plates for the rest of her life.

On top of all that, a few weeks later Nisa’s baby was born prematurely, and is still in the neonatal unit at the hospital. The baby will be undergoing a procedure to relieve swelling in the brain. The procedure involves inserting a tube from the brain to the stomach to drain the fluid.

 

Nisa and Jose need your help.

 

The accident has been disastrous for the family. Nisa’s car was totaled and they lack the financial resources to buy a new one.

 

During Nisa’s recovery, while she is unable to work, they are currently surviving on Jose’s income, and they need child care for their other other babies, a daughter aged 5 and a son aged 3.

 

The goal of this GoFundMe is to help the Hernandez family get back on their feet. They need help to pay for medical expenses, transportation, and child care.
