Help Njoki to do her PhD at Uni of Manchester
Donation protected
I am Njoki Kimani, an environmental science student from Kenya. I was raised by my mum for the most part of my life. She always made sure that I got the best education experience that was available in my country. Through her and my family's support, I was fortunate to make it through my Bachelor's degree in Kenya. Shortly after that I got a scholarship to pursue a Master's degree in Environmental Science in India. I completed the degree and returned back to Kenya. I got a short term research assistant job for 6 months, which enabled me to support my family. My plan was to work in the meantime as I applied for PhD scholarships. Gratefully, I applied and got a fully funded PhD scholarship to pursue a PhD in Environmental Engineering at the University of Manchester, UK.
The University is paying for my tuition fees and upkeep but I am supposed to pay for the Visa and International Health Surchages (IHS) myself, which will cost £2,300, by 15th July 2022. My family cannot afford to contribute this amount by the expected date and I have no other means of raising the funds.
If you could kindly contribute with whichever amount you can in raising the £2,300 I need to pay for the visa and IHS fees, it will be greatly appreciated. Any amount would help.
This is an opportunity of a lifetime, that may only come once. I hope to gain skills and knowledge that I can apply to improve food and nutritional security by empowering small scale farmers, globally. I also hope to inspire other young girls to pursue their dreams and believe that where there is a will, there is always a way.
Thank you in advance.
