Help Noble Rebuild: Accessible Home Needed
Donation protected
TL;DR: I’ve been displaced due to unlivable conditions caused by landlord negligence. Now homeless, I’m struggling to recover after losing my car, belongings, and basic stability. As a disabled person, I urgently need to secure accessible housing and replace essential items by January. Your support will help me rebuild my life and find a safe, stable home.
My name is Noble. I very recently (April 2024) made a huge move to North Carolina to escape domestic violence and years of homelessness after becoming severely disabled. I loved my housing there, but it wasn't safe and caused my health to deteriorate rapidly, resulting in a brand new asthma diagnosis and emergency after emergency, leading to self-evicting from dangerous housing from a negligent landlord.
Since mid-September, I’ve been displaced and am currently crashing in a friend’s living room in Cincinnati. I have no permanent place to go and limited funds, and winter is here. I am in a situation that is physically and emotionally painful every day. Recently, I lost my car in a parked accident, leaving me without transportation. I can’t begin to replace it until I find a safe, stable home that’s accessible to my disability, offers local support, and allows me to rebuild my life and rest for a long time.
Because I had to leave most of my belongings behind as they were unsalvageable - including my brand new bed, essential items, some really well-loved cooking items, all my furniture, and mobility aids. Despite clear evidence of negligence, my landlord is stonewalling any settlement for reimbursement of hotel stays, back rent, and damages. I would like to be able to afford to keep my income-based lawyer working on helping me but need help to do so.
This displacement has disrupted my second disability application and health insurance, making it even harder to plan my future. As someone who is disabled and unable to work, finding safe, accessible housing is critical to my well-being, but a huge challenge that I can't obtain help for through government or non-profit channels. I need to secure permanent housing by January, but I cannot do it without your help and your ears on the ground.
Your support will go toward:
1. Securing safe, accessible housing - please reach out with any leads!
2. Replacing essential items like furniture, mobility aids, and basic household goods
3. Stabilizing my life after years of housing instability and trauma
I’m doing my best to stay strong, but this journey has been incredibly overwhelming and traumatic. With your help, I can finally rebuild and create a safe, stable foundation for my future. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity.
