Help Nobuo Recover from the Altadena Fires
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Dani Sanders and I am fundraising on behalf of our neighbor and handyman, Nobuo Miyazaki, who lost everything in the Altadena Fires. He is a senior from Japan who relies on a bike for transportation, which was also lost in the fire.
Nobuo, 65, was forced to evacuate from his home on Tuesday, January 7th as intense winds and wildfire battered our hometown. He had only 5 minutes to rescue his pet cockatoo and throw whatever he could into a backpack. He is currently separated from his beloved pet cockatoo Toby, who is being cared for by the Pasadena Humane Society, and we hope to reunite them as soon as possible. Nobuo and Toby have never been separated in the 37 years since Toby was adopted.
He is already back at work despite this huge upheaval in his life and despite not yet having permanent housing secured. Any funds raised will go directly to Nobuo to assist with any needs not covered by other sources of aid.
Background on the person fundraising: I know Nobuo through his regular work at our apartments in Pasadena, which were fortunately not effected by the fires. He has just started feeling able to do things like apply for FEMA and was willing to have this fundraiser set up in his name as of today, so I have been helping him with these things as a more tech-savvy person. I currently work with local students through Pasadena LEARNs at Octavia Butler Middle School.
Please donate as anything helps.
