Help Noora family evacuate Gaza war
Donation protected
I am posting this for a friend who is trying to escape from Gaza.
My name is Dr Walid Almuti from Scottsdale ,
I'm reaching out to you with a heavy heart and appealing for your support to help evacuation my dearest friend, Noora AbuHamam, her husband Abdul Hadi Btran and her two children who are currently facing unimaginable hardships in Gaza.
This is her story in her own words.
‘My name is Noora AbuHamam. I am a Palestinian living in the Gaza Strip. My family and I have survived four wars in Gaza. I have always been fully aware of the hardships of life in Gaza, but I never imagined it would be this difficult, facing genocide, massacres, and destruction.
I am writing to you not knowing what our fate holds tomorrow, in the next hour, or even in the next moment. I am writing to you as my family and I are under bombardment and fire. Our home in Tal al-Hawa, Gaza City, was bombed after we fled southward. We have been displaced seven times in search of a safer place, only to find that there is no safe place in Gaza. Currently, we are living in a tent in Rafah, enduring an extremely harsh life with no food, clean water, or warmth. My children have fallen ill from contaminated water, and there is no access to healthcare or medical services. When our home was destroyed, all our memories were obliterated, but I haven't told my children about the destruction of their rooms, toys, and memories.
My son Tameem, who is 8 years old and passionate about football, asks me about his first football trophy, wondering if it still shines or if it's covered in dust. I don't know how to respond and what I can say. I don't want to crush his hopes as our home was crushed. As for my daughter Rita, 6 years old, she left all her toys behind and clung to her father's hand, trembling with fear when we first fled our home. She tells her father, "I don't want to die, Daddy. I don't want us to lose anyone." She pleads with him to try to get us out of this war. Rita, a delicate butterfly who has only known affection from her family, now knows nothing but terror. She keeps saying, "I just want us to survive." She remembers her beautiful dresses and wonderful drawings left in our destroyed home, saying she needs to organize her wardrobe and try on all the dresses in one day. I hold back my tears and pray constantly for our survival, for the sake of my innocent children.’
Your assistance in helping this family find safety and stability would mean the world to them. Thank you for considering my request.
Currently, Noora's family is faced with the difficult decision to leave Gaza in search of safety. The journey to the Egyptian border is perilous, compounded by the substantial financial burden of $7,000 USD per person to cover travel expenses and ensure a secure passage. Additionally, we require extra funds to support their resettlement upon reaching their destination.
Our primary objective is to guarantee the safety of Noora's family. Below is a breakdown of the financial requirements:
- Border crossing costs for four individuals: $28,000 ($7,000 each)
- Passports for Noora and her two children: $1,500
- Initial living expenses in Egypt for one year $30,000
Total Required: $59500
living expenses
To accommodate unforeseen expenses, we are adding a buffer of approximately 15% bringing our fundraising goal to around $70000
It's essential to recognize that costs may fluctuate, necessitating adjustments to our goal as needed.
I will ensure prompt transfer of funds to Noora's family in Gaza for critical needs such as border crossing and immediate expenses. Any surplus will be allocated towards travel tickets, accommodation, and essential online transactions. I commit to keeping you updated throughout this process.
I cannot adequately express our gratitude for your support. Whether through donations, sharing our story, or keeping Noora's family in your thoughts and prayers, every gesture makes a significant impact. Your assistance offers Noora's family a chance for safety and a fresh start.
Thank you sincerely for your solidarity and kindness during this challenging time.
With heartfelt appreciation,
Walid
