️Our Story

After Hurricane Helene struck, the outdoor community around the Nolichucky River sprang into action. We organized search and rescue teams, cleared access roads, and supported disaster recovery across The Nolichucky Watershed.

When the floodwaters receded, they left behind more than just damage — they left wreckage scattered across forests, trails, and waterways.

That’s when we founded NORA — a grassroots organization of paddlers, guides, educators, and local leaders united to:

✅ Restore and protect our river

✅ Train the next generation of outdoor leaders

✅ Build a culture of environmental stewardship

This spring and summer, we’re launching a series of community-powered clean-ups to remove dangerous and unsightly debris from flood-impacted areas in and around the Nolichucky River.

Our Goal: $10,000 for a Heavy-Duty Dump Trailer

With your help, we’ll purchase a 14-ft dual-axle hydraulic dump trailer capable of hauling:

Flood-damaged lumber, siding, fencing

Twisted metal, roofing tin, and scrap

Trash from remote forest access points

Downed trees and trail obstructions

Gear, tools, and supplies for field teams

This trailer will become a core asset for years of future clean-ups, recovery work, trail building, and community service.
