Help Nora get back on her feet.

Nora's snowboarding turns heads. She's a full-speed sender with a wild selection of tricks. If you've watched her ride, you probably did a double-take... wait, was that a girl? This spring, she shattered her T12 vertebrae - and she needs our help.

Nora grew up in Virginia and only got to snowboard occasionally when she was young. As soon as she was old enough, she got a job at a resort. After high school, Nora packed up and moved out west to pursue snowboarding full time. She filmed insane video parts and has had photos published in major magazines. Looking at it from a distance, she had it made. Right?

Things aren't always what they seem. When Nora was a teenager, she started drinking, doing drugs, and numbing out. She wasn't happy with who she was. She looked for any way she could to escape the negative feelings and reality. Drinking, drugging, and partying fit right into the snowboard culture.

At some point, it catches up. Things spiraled, and Nora got further away from herself and started using more substances to numb out. Nothing was ever enough, she was on a path to keep going until she got a bad bag, and it killed her. She didn't want to ask for help- she felt like a burden. This was her problem to carry.

Thankfully, Riley Elliot helped get Nora into a treatment program. Eleven days after she got out, only 46 days clean, she went to a snowboard event at Timberline. Unfortunately, the landing got away from her on a low visibility day. She took a nasty fall and lost feeling in her legs. She was back boarded off the mountain and got an IV in the ambulance. A day later, she got surgery. She shattered her T12 vertebrae; it was no longer in her spine.

The hospital and doctors gave Nora pain killers. That's a tough pill to swallow for someone newly in recovery. She just got clean, and it's scary feeling like your taking a step back, even if it is for medical reasons.

Nora is going back to inpatient therapy for addiction recovery when she is discharged from the hospital. She's putting herself first. As someone who went to outpatient therapy for alcohol/addiction, I can tell you that It's expensive, but it saved my life. I wouldn't be here today without it.

The last thing Nora needs to worry about right now is finances. She will need intensive physical therapy, emotional therapy, and all the support we can give her.

Nora's parents have been paying her hospital bills and rent. It's a considerable cost to carry alone. We would be so grateful if you could help out. Even $5 can make a difference.
