Help Norfolk Tank Museum Get This Chieftain Running Again!!
We need your help to Restore this Chieftain back to running condition ready for Armourfest 2025!!!
This Chieftain AVRE has been long neglected sitting as a gate guard then ending up at MOD Woodbridge where we were able to save it.
While sitting as a gate guard its been robbed of many of its interior and automotive parts.
There is not currently a Chieftain ARVE on public display in a fully functional, running condition. We have a unique feet of vehicles here at Norfolk Tank Museum which includes the only complete and fully functional Centurion AVRE which is seen regularly at events such as our Armourfest digging and dozing in the arena.
We already have the rarer parts to complete the AVRE, 2 Maxi fascines and a Pearson mine plough. Externally its very complete and despite many years outside, its mossy and green but in remarkable condition.
Internally tells a slightly different story, the engines and gearbox are missing and all the hull electrical boxes and various automotive components have been robbed from the AVRE over the years.
The funds raised are for parts such as engines etc. etc. No labour! The restoration will take place here at the Norfolk tank museum by our workshop volunteers.

£10 or more and have your name on the front bazooka plate – names will be in keeping with the Camo scheme and will be black on a green background. From up close the names can be read but, wont effect photos or be seen when driving and doing displays.
£25 and you'll be invited to Chieftain day, a special day to showcase the AVRE for the first time to the public and where you can get up close and climb inside all three of our Chieftains, MK1 MBT, MK8 MBT and the AVRE
The top donator will be given the opportunity to command the AVRE at Chieftain day.
A second donator will be picked at random and also be given the opportunity to command this AVRE at Chieftain day.
